What if my website doesn't work right in one type of browser, but works fine in others?

This is a common web development problem.  One solution to this is to include on your home page the browser needed to best view your site. (For example: Please use Mozilla Firefox for to fully utilize and view this site.) You can also include a link (using the link tool or the text tool's link feature) to the free download site for that browser. (For example, click here for a free download of the Mozilla Firefox browser).

What if my webframe shows up in Firefox, but not Internet Explorer?

Some websites install security tags that prevent their sites from being seen in an i-frame for security reasons. IE tends to pick up these tags more than Firefox and so at times Firefox will display a web frame and IE won't.  To be safe when developing your site, always test your previews in both browsers.

What if a design tool malfuntions?

The easy solution for any malfunction of the designer is to close your designer window and, from the "Websites I've Built " page, re-launch the designer by clicking on "Edit Website Layout" for the  site you were working on.  This clears up most problems (including the designer page loading incorrectly or issues you encounter while working).

While the designer application is being delivered from our server, you are also utilizing your own computer system to interface with the software.  If any of your own system's related functions reach capacity (like your Cache, RAM, Virtual Memory, etc.), your computer will have a difficult time performing the functions that you want to send back to our server when you save or hit preview.

That's why, as with all design applications, it's a good idea to re-start your computer before beginning a design session (this clears out your own cache, RAM, etc. and let's you start fresh).

It's also important to "Save" your work after each step you take.  That way if your computer locks up, you won't have lost all of your work.

Additional Note:  If you have let your design window sit for a while, it's a good idea to close it and to then click on "Websites I've Built" from the normal MondoDesigner site to ensure that your session has not timed out.  You will know the session has timed out, if you are taken to the login home page again.  Working in the designer during a timed-out session will create problems and your work will not be able to save until you re-log in.

My "Hotspots" sometimes don't work with Internet Explorer

Hotspots do work with IE but only when placed over Background Images (images that have been uploaded as a "Background" element).

Hotspots do not work with IE when placed over images loaded into the foreground with the "Image" tool.

To work around this issue until it is fixed, add a link (using the "Link" tool) below or along side any foreground image that you wish to use in connection with a Hot Spot.  This will ensure that users can access the page or link you have in mind regardless of which browser they use.

While this is an aspect we are working on, each browser has its own unique protocols and unfortunately IE many times does not follow the same protocols as other browsers, thus requiring special fixes.

Can I have my own URL or domain name with my MondoDesigner site (instead of a mondodesigner.com URL)?

Yes. Absolutely

If you do not yet have your own domain name, set up your MondoDesigner home page for the site first, so that you can point your new site to it.  Then purchase a domain name from a domain name service (we recommend GoDaddy because it is price competitive and the easiest to administer).

Once you've acquired your domain name, simply go to the Manage My Domains section of that webiste, select the domain that you would like to point to your MondoDesigner site and then access your DNS and Total MX Controls.  Once there, simply Edit your C Name Alias so that it points to the full URL of your MondoDesigner site (i.e. examples.mondodesigner.com).  Do not add a http:// or www. in front of your MondoDesigner domain name at this stage, however, as this will not work.

The next step would be to go to your domain forwarding and make sure that the domain is permanently forwarded to your www. address (for example if my domain was godaddy.com, I would want to make sure that godaddy.com was forwarded to http://www.godaddy.com -- at this step you do want to put the http:// and the www. in front of your own URL so that when people enter the URL without the www it still points to the correct location).  That way, which ever way someone enters your web address into their browser, it will point to your MondoDesigner site.

From there, as you create additional pages in MondoDesigner, make sure that any internal site links to those pages list the link as "Another Website" and that the URL in the Link Tool is shown as your domain name (i.e mysite.com) plus the additional tag of /pages/newpagename (i.e. the full link tool URL would be http://mynewsite.com/pages/newpagename).  This will ensure that when people click on your various internal links to pages within your site, your own URL will show up in address.

If you do have your domain purchased, follow the instructions in the paragraph above and change any link tool URL's you need to so that they show your URL on each page.

What if I have changed m CName alias and my home page is the right URL, but secondary pages still include "mondodesigner.com" in the web address?

That's an easy one to fix.  Simply go into your links and change the setting to "Another Website" and enter the URL as whatever your own doman is, plus add /pages/nameofyourpage (see the section above for full details).  When you are finsihed, click the "Edit Link" button in the Edit Link Tool Box, then the "Save" button at the top of the Designer.

The Designer isn't loading properly when I click Edit Website Layout

Since MondoDesigner is also interacting with your computer problems in loading can occur (possibly due to your RAM being full or visual memory being full).

One way this occurs is the Designer takes a long time to load.  In this case, remember that prior to starting your session, it is recommended that you close most other programs since they consume a lot of the capacity needed by a graphics application to operate properly.  You may also consider doing a re-start on your computer before starting as well, just to ensure that your RAM and other memory capacity has been cleared. You might also follow the instruction above and simply close the Designer when it's not loading properly and re-click on "Edit Website Layout" to open it again.  This often solves the issue.

A second way this may occur is the designer loads, but there is code all across it.  In this instance, once the page has loaded, do a "hard refresh."  This means that you hold down the "Control" key, while also click the Refresh or Reload button on the browser.  This will typically allow the page to re-load cleanly without problems.

How can I create a link to an email address?

This is an easy one.  Using the Text Box Tool, create the text you want including the words you'd like to use for the email prompt (for example: Contact Us).  Once you're done typing the text, highlight the portion you'd like to have activated as an email link and then click on the Link tool on the toolbar section at the top of the Edit Text Box window (it looks like two links of a chain).

Once the link window opens, in the section that says Link URL, type in mailto:youraddress@youremail.com (utilizing the email address you want the email to come to).

Once you've done this, click "Insert," and then when you return to your Edit Text Box, click "Update Text" and then click the "Save" button at the top of the Designer.

I can't see the bottom part of the background image I uploaded

Background images do have a size limitation.  Currently a background image can not be longer than 665 pixels or approximately 9 inches in length.  This is to allow for images to repeat where desired.

If you have a larger image, you can load the entire image into the foreground with the Image tool.  Or, if you would like part of it to remain in the background so that you can most effectively use "Hot Spots," for example, you can break your background image into two parts with Adobe Photoshop  -- or another image processor -- and load the top of the image as a background and the bottom of the images onto the foreground with the Image tool.
